Her fiction blends folklore, supernatural horror, and literary Gothic traditions to explore grief, generational trauma, religion, womanhood, memory, and the complicated relationship between people and place. A native of New Jersey, Aynsley has a particular interest in regional American Gothic traditions. Her work draws from the haunted landscapes of the American South as well as the folklore, colonial history, abandoned places, forests, swamps, and strange local legends of the Garden State. She is especially interested in examining New Jersey and the greater Mid-Atlantic as a distinct and underexplored Gothic landscape. Aynsley holds a BA in Creative Writing and English with a concentration in Fiction Writing and a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and English, both from Southern New Hampshire University. She writes fiction, essays, and nonfiction centered on horror, folklore, literature, and regional Gothic traditions.
