Twenty years after witnessing a friend's brutal death in a haunted forest, disgraced paranormal investigator Benny Burre returns to Louisiana, haunted by visions and whispers from the past. Old secrets rot beneath the trees, where eyes are carved, sheep bleed, and fire never sleeps.
ABOUT AYNSLEY.
Aynsley Meshanic is a fiction writer specializing in Gothic and folklore horror. Her work explores haunted landscapes, generational trauma, grief, religion, womanhood, and the ways history refuses to stay buried. Drawing inspiration from both the American South and her native New Jersey, she is particularly interested in regional Gothic traditions and the folklore that shapes a community’s understanding of itself. She holds a BA in Creative Writing and English with a concentration in Fiction Writing and a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and English both from Southern New Hampshire University. When she isn’t writing fiction, she researches folklore, regional history, and all things strange and unsettling.
